Professor George Pierrakos

George Pierrakos is Professor (Organisation and Management of Primary Healthcare Services) in the Department of Business Administration and director of Social Policy Division at the Athens University of West Attica Greece. He is also visiting professor at Leeds Beckett University. He holds Ph.D from the Faculty of Political Science & Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds also a MSc from the Faculty of Political Science & Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and BSc from Nursing department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He has participated in several Research Programs of the European Union as a member or coordinator of various research teams such as Central Support Mechanism of the development and promotion of Social Coopeative Enterprises Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, and Primary Health Care Services evaluation in local community Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs and Development of a Total Quality Model in the Health Education concerning Cancer rehabilitation and palliative care Ministry of health. He has substantial teaching experience in the topics of Health Systems Organization, Health Management, and Health Economics in Postgraduate programs and has been the author and co-author of several publications.
