Professor Dionysis (Denis) E. Mouzakis obtained his B.Sc. from the Department of Mechanical  and Aeronautics Engineering, University of Patras (Greece) and his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, University of Kaiserslautern (Germany). He is the author of more than 55 peer reviewed Journal Articles with more than 750 international citations (h-index=17) and has participated in more than 100 International and National Conferences with respect to materials science and engineering topics. He has invested considerable effort in studying the structure-mechanical property relationships in polymers, polymer blends, composite materials, and biomaterials. He is also active in the area of nanocomposites’ property assessment and smart sensors applications.

Professor Mouzakis has participated in many national and European funded research projects. His academic career involves lecturing for 6 years at the Department of Materials Science at the University of Patras and scientific work as a research associate of the Institute of Technology and Research FORTH/ICE-HT in Patras.

He is currently Professor of Mechanics of Materials at the Hellenic Military Academy being the director of the Laboratory of the Mechanics of Materials. He is, also, the elected chairman of the Hellenic Society for Biomaterials until 2022.

His current interests include Smart health monitoring of structures by using: Magnetoelastic contactless sensors in conjunction with wireless networks for data collection, Aging Health Assessment of various structures including composite ones, Smart Polymers and Materials for Structural Applications, Biomaterials & Biomechanics, Polymer Composites Materials & Polymer Nanocomposites, Experimental & Stochastic Fracture Mechanics, Orthopedic and Dental Implants, and Synthetic Hydroxyapatite biological and mechanical response.
