Dr. Dionysios Tsirigotis
Dionysios Tsirigotis is Associate Professor in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus, Greece. His research focuses on international relations theory, democratic legitimacy, political modernity, strategic studies, and diplomacy. He holds a BA, MA, and PhD in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Panteion University and was a research fellow of the “Heraclitus” programme for basic research (2003–2006).
He lectures at the National Security School of the Hellenic Police and at the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government. His academic work examines the relationship between political order, mediation, sovereignty, and legitimacy in modern and posthuman conditions. He has published extensively on Greek foreign policy, international relations, and strategic analysis.
Selected monographs include Greek Strategy in Asia Minor, 1919–1922 (2010), Modern and Contemporary Greek History: International Relations and Diplomacy (2013), Greece–Turkey: Theory and Strategy of Deterrence (2021), and The Global 1923 and the Treaty of Lausanne: Peace, Imperialism, and the Eastern Question (co-authored with Ilia Xypolia, Manchester University Press, 2025).
