Panagiotis E. Petrakis
Panagiotis E. Petrakis is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the same university, an MSc from the University of Stirling, and a PhD in economics and finance from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Supervisor for the Supplementary Distance Education Programme (E-Learning) of The Center of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is, also, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Scientific Director of the Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE).
He has authored numerous scientific articles and over 26 monographs on subjects including European and Greek economic growth, economic crises, and economic policy. His research has been widely published in esteemed academic journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Small Business Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change.
His publications concern multiple disciplines, including economic development, entrepreneurship, cultural background, and foresight. In addition, he is the editor of a series of textbooks published by Palgrave Macmillan, covering topics like investment evaluation, economic growth, foresight, and the labor market. Many of these textbooks are used as core teaching and reading material for economics courses in Greek universities.
