Nikolaos S. Thomaidis, Professor of Analytical Chemistry at Chemistry Department of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is specialized in Analytical Chemistry with an emphasis to Environmental and Food applications. He has extensive experience in supervising and coordinating research projects with both national and European funding and has constant research activity over the last 25 years in Analytical, Environmental and Food Chemistry and Life Sciences, summarized in >290 articles, 18 book chapters receiving >10,500 citations and a h-index of 56.

Moreover, he has strong links with regulatory bodies and the industry for environmental quality and food safety issues. He leads a dedicated  scientific group, the Trace Analysis and Mass Spectrometry (TrAMS) group (http://trams.chem.uoa.gr/), whose current research interest is focused on the development of cutting-edge HRMS methodologies and workflows to fully characterize the molecular “fingerprint” of environmental and biological samples and foodstuff.

Moreover, his research team has developed multiplex PCR methods for the reliable quantification of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater and the development of an early warning system for the detection of COVID-19 distribution.
